Our Ears are Pierced!

Way before Ruby was born, I knew that I wanted to have her ears pierced early.  I wanted to make sure to do it before she was old enough to find them with her hands so they could stay clean and not get infected.  I talked to Kris about it and he reluctantly agreed, based only on the fact that Karson was much older and went through having hers pierced several times before she was able to keep them in!
So when she turned 12 weeks old, I made an appointment and off we went!  The place we had them pierced at was absolutely crazy on a Saturday afternoon, there were screaming little girls everywhere!  Thankfully, Kourtney went with me and Kris stayed in the car with the boys (I still think if he had went in with me we would have came out without pierced ears!)
I admit, I was really nervous about having them done, and had second thoughts but went ahead and now I am so glad we did!  She looks like a little princess with sparkling ears!  She cried the most from me having to hold her head still while they lined everything up, and then cried for a second after they put them in.  Since then, she has no idea they are even there!

Snow 2014

I almost forgot I had these pictures from our snow this year!  We tried to have Koen sneak out so he could go play, but you cannot get anything past our two year old!  As soon as he realized Bubba was missing, he had to go outside, too!

Koen is such a great big brother, he didn't even complain when John Thomas crashed his snow party!

Ruby Caroline - THREE months

Three months have come and gone!  Here are some milestones this month!
  • You stayed in the church nursery for the first time, I was paged before we finished serving in our preschool class because you were hungry!
  • Went to NC to meet your Aunt Allie, Great Grandparents, Great Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and friends. You were an angel on the flight, both going and coming home.
  • You are still eating every 3 hours, sometimes a little longer and sleep almost all night, most nights!
  • While in NC you decided you did NOT want a bottle, while Mama and Daddy were on their first night out, later we found out that you want it really hot!  You still aren't crazy about it, but you will take it if you get hungry enough!
  • Spit up is still a huge issue, you are gaining weight  but spit up a lot and I am experimenting with cutting out caffeine and dairy to see if either of those help!
  • You sat in the Mamas and Papas chair and loved it!  You like sitting up where you can see what is going on around you
  • You have started "talking" and will talk when we talk to you
  • We got your ears pierced (3/22/14) you only cried for a second, mainly because I had to hold your head still.
  • You are still sleeping in your Rock N Play sleeper at night, in our room.  I am having a hard time moving you to your crib/room!
  • You love to suck on your hands, and I am pretty sure if you can find your thumb you will be a thumb sucker!

You are still in size 1 disposable diapers, although mostly we are in cloth on the smallest rise snap.  You are wearing all 0-3 month clothes.  Your eyes are still blue and your hair is getting lighter, almost a light brown and filling in on the top!

We go next month for official stats, so I am unsure of your weight!

Ruby,

I wish I could remember every moment with you forever, I never want to forget how it feels to cuddle and nurture you at this stage! You are so sweet, smiley, gentle and calm - you are our precious baby girl!

Love,

Mama and Daddy

Maternity Leave Fun

While on maternity leave, I was able to do a lot of things with John Thomas that I hadn't been able to do while working.  We were able to go on special trips, play dates and just have quality one on one time!

We had so much fun at the Perot museum.  John Thomas loved the children's area!
He really enjoyed the water area and refused to put on the apron, so after dumping water on his head, he was pretty wet!

We made a craft, although with John Thomas, craft time does not last long!
We toured the dinosaur exhibit and he wanted to "ride" all of them!
We made several trips to the zoo! He loved this bird that bounced like crazy on his line!

Sweet Ruby was a trooper on every single trip.  She is an angel being carried in her sling, not minding it at all!  She can eat, sleep and watch right from inside!
We took a cousins zoo trip and Krae caught a ride on the front of our stroller!
He loves feeding all of the animals!

We have spent several afternoons at the park with beautiful weather, just the three of us!

A reward after school for having a good day, we took a trip to the dollar store and Pet Smart, always a treat!
We had several play dates with friends, this one ending up much better than it started off! :)

We had lots of floor time playing music, cars, ball and trains!

Made some time to take a quick drive!
We have been blessed with some goregous days, allowing for lots of time in the swing!  After we made chocolate chip cookies for Daddy!
This little man adores his sister!  I am so glad he has immediately taken on the role of protecting her, even though sometimes the only thing she needs to be protected from is him!

Another adventure has been cooking dinner.  Almost everyday when John Thomas wakes up he "helps" me make dinner. It's one of my favorite times of the day!

I am so grateful for the uninterrupted time I have been given over the past couple of months with my two babies!  God has revealed himself to me in so many ways through the two of them!
